Registering a Birth in Saskatchewan

By law every birth of a child in Saskatchewan must be registered. Registration is needed to create a permanent record of a person's birth and to order a Birth Certificate.

Completing the Registration of Live Birth form

Most parents will complete the registration process at the hospital. After the birth of their baby, parents will receive a Registration of Live Birth form that allows them to quickly and easily register their child's birth and also access related government services, including:

  • Canada Child Benefits (CCB)
  • Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Saskatchewan Health Card
  • Saskatchewan Birth Certificate
