Marriages

You may be here because you are anticipating, or have already experienced, one of the happiest days of your life. If you are engaged or married, congratulations from all of us at eHealth Saskatchewan!

As couples are usually very busy during this exciting time, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to check off a few more items on your To Do List.

This section will walk you through the process of ordering a Marriage Certificate, after you are legally married. Once you order a Marriage Certificate, you can also come back to this page to check the order status.

You will also discover that you do not have to request a legal name change to update your last name after being married. However, we do have some advice on how to go about updating your last name on important identification documents, such as your driver's license, passport and health card, if you choose to do so.

Attention Applicant: To avoid delays, please ensure that proper identification is included with your application.

Please note: There are third-party websites that offer services to obtain Saskatchewan vital event certificates i.e. marriage certificates for an additional cost.  Those websites are not associated with eHealth Saskatchewan and if you choose to use them we are unable to provide any information related to your order.  We recommend you apply directly through this website to ensure your order is processed without delay or additional fees.

It is also important to note that you need to obtain a marriage license before the marriage ceremony.

Find more information on how to purchase a marriage license and find a marriage commissioner in your community.
