Saskatchewan Health Cards
All Saskatchewan residents must register themselves and their dependents for a Saskatchewan Health Card in order to receive health benefits.
The Saskatchewan Health Card is a valuable personal identification card that you should be prepared to present whenever you need health services.
Please be advised that in-person services at eHealth Saskatchewan are currently unavailable. Please browse our website under "Residents" for information on how to request a health card, update health card information, or to request a vital event certificate.
Health Card applications are usually processed within six to eight weeks after we receive your application—not including mailing time. Due to high demand, we are currently behind in processing times. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please note that we are currently processing health card applications received in January 2020. Applicants who submitted online applications can sign in to their accounts to check the status of their applications. We are currently processing vital event certificate applications from mid-March.
Applications are always processed in the order they are received.
If you submit your request online, you can log into your online account to check the status of your request. When you online application is processed, we will send you an email advising you of when you can expect to receive your Health Card. We will also send you an email if you are missing any required information on your application.
We appreciate your patience as we work towards processing all requests.
Please note that an organ and tissue donor registry will be available in 2020. It will replace the Organ Donor stickers and Intention to Donate cards previously distributed with health card renewal packages.
Speak to your family about your wishes to be a donor. In Saskatchewan, organs and tissues will not be donated without your family or next-of-kin's consent.
