A Canada Post service disruption may delay marriage certificate processes. This includes:

  • Delivery of certificates requested prior to a service disruption
  • Delivery of paper applications sent via Canada Post

To help avoid delays:

  • Apply online – Order certificates online
  • Apply by courier  If you aren't able to apply online, send your paper form by courier. 
  • Request courier delivery – Documents being delivered to a street address in Saskatchewan can be sent by courier for an additional fee of $30. Purolator currently picks up packages from our office Monday to Friday (excluding holidays). For documents being delivered to an address outside of Saskatchewan you will need to make your own arrangements with a courier service. Please call our office for more information. 
  • Visit in person – In Regina, order and pay for certificates at our front desk, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (excluding holidays).

  • You need to have a valid credit card to order online.
  • An online order must be completed in one session. If you stop typing for longer than 30 minutes, your order will timeout and all of the information you entered will be lost. Please note that your order cannot be saved on your computer.

Choose your type of Marriage Certificate

Standard Documents

  • Frame Certificate ($35.00) contains the full name of each spouse, date of marriage, place of marriage, registration number and registration date.

Other Documents

  • Certified copy ($55.00) is a photocopy of the original marriage registration.  Certified copies are not recommended for use as identification purposes.  These are typically used to apply for citizenship.
  • Genealogical copy ($55.00) contains all of the information that appears on the original marriage registration. A copy can only be ordered for marriages registered more than 75 years ago. Genealogical copies are generally used for gathering family history or creating family trees.


To order, you will need:

  • The names of the spouses, as well as the marriage details. Plus, you will need to submit:

    • A copy of one piece of government-issued photo identification OR copies of two other pieces of identification—one of which must contain your signature
    • Any other supporting documentation as determined in the eligibility guidelines  

Electronic copies of your documents may be obtained by scanning or taking digital pictures of your documents. Please ensure that all information on your documents is readable.
