MSHR Surgical Procedures Providers FAQ

Q: When will the Surgical Procedures go live in MySaskHealthRecord (MSHR)?
Surgical Procedures was launched on March 15, all records are now avaialable for patients to see.

Q: Which procedures will not be visible in MSHR?
Patients will not receive notifications for emergency procedures (including emergency c-sections), but the final procedure report will be visible in their history. Emergency procedure reports will be available from 2018 forward.

Endoscopy procedures will not be visible in MSHR.

Q. What date will be used in the system when patients are waitlisted? Will it be the date of consent, the date the surgical booking package is received at the surgical booking office, or the date the information is entered into the system?
A: The date that will appear in MSHR will be the date the complete surgical booking package is received at the OR scheduling office (please allow 7-14 business days following the consent discussion for new entries to appear in MySaskHealthRecord.).

Q. Will there be a disclaimer in the system notifying the patient that a. there will be a delay in surgical procedures information appearing in MSHR, and b. that their waitlist start date will be later than the date they first saw their surgeon, to alleviate anxiety and avoid phone calls to the surgeon's office, when they don't see their information immediately?  
A: Yes. The following guiding text will appear when patients click on the Surgical Procedures widget in MSHR:

This record contains information about your surgery which has been entered in the Saskatchewan Surgical Registry. It is updated once your surgery is scheduled, changed, cancelled, and/or performed. Please allow 7-14 business days following the consent discussion with your surgeon for new entries to appear. If you have questions or concerns about your surgery, please contact the surgeon's office. You will receive a reminder 30 days prior to surgery, if you have "New Provincial Data" notifications enabled.


Q. Will a physician be able to see surgical procedure information in the eHealth eHR Viewer?
A: At this time, a patient's surgical procedure information will not be available in the eHealth eHR Viewer. It will only be visible in the patient's MSHR account.  A patient would need to manually show a physician this information from their mobile app.

Q. Will patients be able to see information about surgeries they were already waitlisted or schedule for, or will only information about newly added surgeries be available?
A:  Patients will be able to see information about surgeries they are already waitlisted or scheduled for, including information about newly added surgeries and surgical history from 2018 forward.

Q Will we need to change or update any information that is currently in our booking systems to ensure it is properly visible in a MySaskHealthRecord account?
A: There is no requirement to change or update any information that is currently in the booking system.

Q. My patient isn't using MySaskHealthRecord but since I told them this information will be available they would like to register. How can they do that?
