What is EDRN?
The Electronic Death Registration and Notification (EDRN) website is an initiative led by eHealth Saskatchewan's Vital Statistics Office, the provincial organization responsible for the collection of death data.
EDRN offers a secure electronic process for eHealth to receive all the required information to register a death. This facilitates the work of medical informants and funeral directors, and provide families and loved ones with improved support during a difficult time, while increasing death data integrity and improving processing times.
EDRN also gives health care providers the ability to:
- Search for residents to pre-populate Medical Certificate of Death (MCD) forms
- Pre-populate other MCD information based on the user logged in and other features
- Electroincially transfer cases to funeral homes or other health care providers
- Amend MCDs
- Search for historical MCDs
The EDRN website is available to all medical informants who sign Medical Certificates of Death and funeral homes who sign Statement of Death.
