In 2017, Liam was the most popular name for baby boys for the eighth year in a row, and Olivia was the most popular name for baby girls.
The second most popular boy name was William and the second most popular girl name was Ava. There were 73 baby boys named Liam in 2017, followed by William, Jacob, Oliver and Lincoln. There were 81 baby girls named Olivia and 65 baby girls named Ava, followed by Emma, Emily, Sophia and Harper.
William is the second most popular baby boy name in the province two years in a row.
