Artificial intelligence, or AI, is already starting to change how health care is delivered in Saskatchewan. At eHealth Saskatchewan, the focus is on learning by doing - starting small, testing ideas in real settings, and building from what works.

The goal is simple: use AI to reduce repetitive administrative tasks and help health care providers spend more time with patients. By trying manageable, practical uses of AI first, teams can learn quickly and adapt as technology evolves.

One early example is the AI Scribe pilot, developed in partnership with Canada Health Infoway. The AI scribe listens during patient visits and helps create clinical notes automatically. This means less time spent typing and more time focused on conversations and care. Early feedback from clinicians shows they feel more present with patients and spend less time on paperwork each day.

eHealth is also exploring how AI might help people using MySaskHealthRecord better understand their health information. Future tools could summarize notes, explain medical terms in plain language, or show health information in easy-to-digest visuals.

By starting now and learning along the way, eHealth is building experience and confidence - so AI can support better care, clearer information, and more time for what matters most: people.
