Common questions

How do I change information in the eHR Viewer?

Under HIPA, you have the right to request a correction or amendment to your health records if you believe they are incorrect or incomplete in the Electronic Health Record (eHR) Viewer.

To request a change, you must contact the health care provider who created the information.

How long does it take to process my request?

Requests are processed as they are received. Processing time is impacted by the size and complexity of the request.

Why am I missing some of my health records on eHR Viewer?

The eHR Viewer is a secondary source for information; this means that not all medical information is uploaded into it. Please be aware that the eHR Viewer was implemented in 2011 and organizations and datasets were onboarded through a phased approach over the years.

Because we are a secondary source, some requests need to be processed by the primary source (e.g. insurance claims). The primary source can limit what is being disclosed to only information required to complete the request.

If you are looking for information that is not in the eHR Viewer or MySaskHealthRecord, please contact your health care provider to request a copy of the record.

I used to have access to my late relative’s MySaskHealthRecord. Why can’t I access it now?

When someone passes away, we deactivate their MySaskHealthRecord account after receiving notice through the provincial client registry.

Under The Health Information Protection Act (HIPA), access to a deceased person's health information is limited. Only the minimum amount of information needed for a specific purpose can be disclosed.

Because MySaskHealthRecord contains years of health information, eHealth Saskatchewan cannot provide access to a deceased person's account. We are unable to limit the account to only the information that may be released under HIPA.

If you need access to the health information of a deceased individual, contact the health records department at the health care facility where they last received care. They can review your request and determine what information can be released.
