Marriage certificates
Who can apply
You can apply for a marriage certificate or a copy of marriage registration if you are:
- either party to the marriage
- an adult child of both people in the marriage
- a legal custodian, personal guardian or property guardian of an eligible person
- applying to prove Métis or Treaty Status
- named in a Saskatchewan court order or subpoena
- authorized in writing by an eligible person
Types of certificates
Standard size marriage certificate
$35A standard marriage certificate includes:
- each spouse’s full name
- date of marriage
- place of marriage
- registration number
- registration date
Copy of registration of marriage
$55A copy of registration of marriage includes the information from the original marriage registration.
It’s commonly used for international purposes. It can’t be used as personal identification.
Genealogical copy
$55A genealogical copy is a copy of the original marriage registration used for family history research.
It’s available for marriages registered in Saskatchewan more than 75 years ago.

What you need to apply
To apply, you'll need:

the names of both spouses and marriage details
- one piece of government-issued ID or two other pieces of ID with your signature
