Eligibility for health benefits

Saskatchewan residents

You’re generally eligible for Saskatchewan health coverage if you: 

  • live in Saskatchewan and plan to keep living here 
  • are physically present in the province for at least five months each year 
  • can provide the required documents, including proof that you can legally be in Canada and proof that you live in Saskatchewan  

Moving from another Canadian province or territory 

If you’re moving to Saskatchewan from another Canadian province or territory, your Saskatchewan health coverage may begin on the first day of the third month after you move here. 

Moving from outside Canada

If you’re moving to Saskatchewan from outside Canada, you may qualify for Saskatchewan health coverage on or before the first day of the third month after you arrive in Canada.

Go to Saskatchewan Account. Create an account, or sign in if you already have one.

Under Health Card, select Use Service.

Under Tasks, select Apply for a health card/Update your health card information

Under Apply for Saskatchewan health services card, select Next and then select Start new application


Add documents to an application

Sign in to your Saskatchewan Account.

Under My services, select Health card.  Select Use service.

Select Apply for a health card and then under Apply for Saskatchewan health services card, click Next.

Select View my application status. Select Add documents.
