​What is EDRN?

The goal of EDRN is to improve the timeliness and accuracy of death data, facilitated through the implementation of an electronic process.  The initiative is being led by eHealth Saskatchewan's Vital Statistics Office (VSO), the provincial organization responsible for the registration of all Saskatchewan's vital events.

EDRN will replace the current paper process for both medical certificates of death as well as statements of death, with an electronic process.  This will significantly improve the timeliness of death registration and minimize the delays for the production of death certificates.

This will streamline the work of medical informants/coroners and funeral directors while increasing death data integrity and improving processing times.

The EDRN website will begin rollout in early 2024, with specific timing by region to follow. Please continue to check back to this Infosite for further information regarding implementation timing, training, and how your organization can ensure that it is successfully onboarded onto EDRN.
