Clinical Pathways in Saskatchewan

​Clinical pathways support coordinated and timely patient care. Developed collaboratively by patients and providers (including physicians, nurses and therapists), pathways facilitate effective communication and education, improve access to services and enhance patient experiences and outcomes.

Pathways offer:

  • Assessment and treatment guidelines based on best practice
  • Timely access to assessment and diagnosis
  • Information to help patients with decision-making
  • Access to a variety of treatment options
  • Pre-and post-surgical support for patients and their families (when a surgical treatment option is chosen)
  • Referral forms in EMRs
  • Training and resources for health care providers
  • CME credit courses for low back pain and lower extremity wound management
