Many Saskatchewan people are taking a more active role in their own health care, thanks to eHealth’s new Citizen Health Information Portal (CHIP). CHIP is a patient-driven initiative that gives participants quick and easy access to their medical history, and other personal health records, through a secure website.
We surpassed our goal of successfully signing up more than 1,000 participants to take part in the six month pilot. Here’s how participants are benefitting from CHIP:
Improved patient care: Having critical patient information available electronically allows health care providers to make more timely and more informed decisions. This is valuable for everyone, but especially important if you have recently changed doctors, moved within Saskatchewan, or need medical attention while traveling. This information can be accessed from anywhere in the world when connected to the Internet.
Improved relationships: Online citizen health portals have been shown to improve the relationship between patients and physicians, or other health care providers, by engaging patients more fully in their own health care.
Total privacy: The health care information available in CHIP is safe and secure. Even health care providers will need permission to view your health care information online.
eHealth is committed to making health care information available electronically to patients and their health care teams in an effort to make Saskatchewan the best place in the country to receive the highest-quality health care.
